6.30 pm – Guest Speaker Mr Keith Kessell interviewed by President Evan Kennea (Visitors are most welcome.)

Keith Kessell (Modernian 1958–1962) has enjoyed a richly varied career in a number of sectors including the media, politics and business, and has a wealth of experience in government relations, policy development and issues management.

He held the position of Executive General Manager, Corporate Affairs at Wesfarmers Limited for 12 years until his retirement in 2008. His responsibilities included oversight of the Wesfarmers Arts programme. From the middle 1980s until 1993, Keith worked in federal politics as a senior adviser to the Hon Fred Chaney and later to Dr John Hewson, then Leader of the Federal Opposition. He began his career as a journalist with West Australian Newspapers and also worked at ABC radio in Perth. 

Keith has been a member of the Board of Directors of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra since June 2007 and is a former Board Director of the Harry Perkins Institute.
